MOVIE TALK - Ready Player One
THIS WEEK’S FEATURE PRESENTATION:
Here at Grand Gentlemen, nothing is more important to us than “family time”. Which is why at least once, every week, we loosen our ties and unwind for a wild voyage into the great world of cinema.
And boy, OH boy, my friends. This week... was no different.
This week’s Feature Presentation was beyond special. I promise, if you don’t get up and see this film at least four good times, we aren’t even buddies anymore.
Ready Player One was written by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline and directed by the legendaru Steven Spielburg.
Now, I'm gonna keep it real with you, chief. This film is going to make you crack a smile from ear to ear the very moment Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) slides those glasses on.
This magnetic masterpiece throws us into the year 2045, where people who are submerged into these slum-like civilizations can find an escape through a super cool virtual reality world called the OASIS.
Within this magical fantasy world filled to it’s literal brim with pop cultural references from the 80’s and 90’s lies a contest of epic proportions and Wade joins forces with a colorful cast, including Lena Waithe, who slides in a quick wink to Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” that’s going to have every dignified cinephile shed a tear of joy.
Nothing is better than sitting as the credits roll, knowing that you’re going to see that very same film again as soon as you can. It’s very inspiring to see that the magic of the great Spielberg continues to burn both bright and very bold. As expected, “Ready Player One” was magnificent.
We at Grand Gentlemen give this marvelous masterpiece and it’s amazing cast and crew four out of four bowties!
